Illuminate
To illuminate stories of family diversity in 2024-25, we have:
Created 10-part original podcast series The 82%: Modern Stories of Love and Family, produced with Wondery’s This Is Actually Happening
Collaborated on pieces published in The Atlantic, Time, NPR, and the Greater Good Science Center magazine
Launched Constellations of Care, an immersive multimedia exhibition at the San Francisco Exploratorium that invites participants to learn from the creative, loving ways queer communities build abundant understandings of family
Advocate
As part of our efforts to advocate for the legal protection & social inclusion of diverse family structures, we have:
Helped design and pass laws in Oakland and Berkeley, CA prohibiting discrimination on the basis of family structure
Advanced workplace protections and belonging for diverse families at organizations like JP Morgan, Dell, AirBnb through our partnershipswith Out & Equal
Crafted and passed the Gay & Lesbian Medical Association’s position statement on family and relationship structure diversity
Launched a legislative advocacy toolkit in conjunction with OPEN and The Chosen Family Law Center
Design
To design infrastructure that better supports community-centered care, we have:
Convened two 3-day conferences with Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Economy and Society bringing together scholars, architects, urban planners, and policymakers to identify scalable housing designs and policies that reflect the evolving needs of families
Designed the community strategy for a Fortune Global 100 company’s new innovation lab focused on “building a village for modern families”
Co-created and hosted the Community Living Wisdom Exchange: an annual conference focused on housing and care practices now in its 3rd year
