Modern Family Institute Creates Interactive Exhibit for Pride After Dark @ SF Exploratorium

The Modern Family Institute will be presenting Constellations of Care: Making Family in Queer Community, an interactive installation at the Exploratorium’s After Dark: Pride—Queer Science night on Thursday, June 26 (6 – 10 p.m.). Teaming up with the Asexual Visibility Network and the GLBT Historical Society, this multimedia installation celebrates stories of chosen kinship and invites us to learn from the creative, loving ways queer communities build abundant understandings of family. We expect over 1,500 people to attend!

The event will feature a Chosen-Family Photo Booth, a Living Archive Station where participants explore photos, videos, and oral histories from queer elders and contemporaries who’ve re-imagined kinship, and a Story Exchange Space where folks can add their own tale of collective care to our growing constellation of community narratives.

Tickets for the whole evening—including dazzling performances, dozens of hands-on exhibits, talks about queer science, and access to the whole museum including the Tactile Dome are available now.
