We acknowledge that the SF Bay Area is a very limited window into what coliving can be; many cultures around the world have done this for millenia. We also acknowledge that Bay Area communal housing is often quite inaccessible to more marginalized groups (see an example of the Wheel of Privilege here or here). As such, we highly encourage you to spread the word to folks who may be more marginalized (so they can attend, speak, and/or facilitate).
Get Involved!
Volunteer: Volunteers are very welcome, independent of what you can pay. We don’t want lower-income folks to feel pressure to volunteer in order to attend. Conversely, we know many of you often volunteer at events you want to support, regardless of income. Think of this as an event run by the community, for the community (you!). Sign up to volunteer here: Volunteer Signup Sheet.
Lead a session: To speak or facilitate a session, fill out this form: 2025 Interest Form.
Contact us: For any other questions, reach out to coliving-conference@googlegroups.com.
Policies
Access
Parts of the venue are wheelchair accessible, but not all parts. We will provide more accessibility information shortly.
Please email us if you have any other access needs. While we cannot make promises, we will do our best to support you. We want you to be able to attend and enjoy the event.
COVID Policy
We require a picture of a negative COVID test taken the first day you arrive. We support vaccination and wear a mask if you want to.
Please do not attend if you are feeling sick. We will have a livestream and we’ll see you in-person at the next event!
Photography
Taking photos/videos is allowed, but you must get the consent of any recognizable people to use it for anything beyond your own viewing (i.e. to share it or post it).
Release form to be signed in person during check-in.
People who do not want to ever be in a photo/video at the event will wear a red wristband
Livestream / Video Recording
We will try to livestream/record at least one room of talks, but will likely not record the sessions with many people speaking (e.g. discussions/workshops).
We will encourage someone to take written/typed notes in every session, but cannot guarantee this will happen.
Refunds
You may always transfer your ticket to someone else.
We will provide refunds for any reason up to 7 days in advance (10/18/2025).
Within 7 days of the event, we only provide refunds for a medical emergency or positive COVID diagnosis (or similar).
Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct is our commitment to the community to provide a welcoming, safe(r) space for all its participants. Feel free to email us with questions or concerns.
Children
All people including kids need a ticket.
Childcare: We’ll have a room staffed by one adult volunteer the entire day if you want to leave your child there for the day or any length of time. We will have a person with at least some experience with kids, but parents/guardians must be available to be contacted at any time.
Otherwise, children under 13 must be accompanied at all times by an adult. There are some potential safety hazards for children.
Parking
There is some limited free 2hr street parking, but we encourage carpools and public transportation. There are also paid lots and garages.
Remember not to leave anything visible in your car, even in a garage!
Public Transportation
The closest BART station is at Mission and 24th.
Food/Drink
We will provide coffee, tea, hot water, snacks, and food available throughout the day.
Breakfast-y bits, lunch (self-serve), and potentially dinner (catered by a community member) will be provided.
There will be vegetarian options. If you have other dietary restrictions you’d like us to accommodate, please let us know.
Venue Policies
No smoking, vaping, etc. No candles or open flames of any kind.
